Watch Out Now!

Why does a driver get picked as the driver to be stopped over the other thousands of drivers passing police officers every day? A driver has to get the attention of an officer before the officer makes the choice for who his next victim will be.

A dirty truck is a good indication that there may be other problems lurking under the grime. ... Read More

CSA means Stop, Look, and Listen!

On May 9, 2012, I taught a class of drivers who had come to work for a carrier and these drivers had no idea what CSA was. They all came from previous jobs and had worked in our industry for years. Men who had no computers and carriers who made sure they didn’t share CSA information with their employees.... Read More

Business Agents for Professional Drivers! Show Me the Money!

A lot of professional people today have a business agent. But what about truckers? Can they have a business agent? Can a business agent really help drivers make more money than a driver could make on their own? Does it cost anything for a driver to have a business agent or if they do charge, what would they charge me? All good questions I'd say and there is no one out there to date that has offered any information on this subject.... Read More

Department of Justice investigating 17 police & Sheriff Departments

There are currently 17 major police and sheriff's departments under investigation for alleged civil rights abuses across the country. Those alleged abuses include the fatal shooting of a homeless Native American man on a street corner in Seattle, the killing of James Chasse, a 42 year-old schizophrenic from Portland, and the beating of an inmate in a South Carolina jail. ... CSA, 2010 and Your Future in Trucking

Last year carriers allowed drivers to drive as they always had in the past. Carriers were afraid of telling drivers those logbook violations, speeding and equipment violations would be kept up by the government differently than ever before. The carriers believed their drivers would slow down and the carrier would lose money. The facts now show that over 10,000 carriers lost their companies and that was the result of that kind of thinking. Those carriers also lost over 400,000 drivers who now can’t easily be replaced.... When Truckers Cry

The message on my cell phone recorded a cry for help. I returned the call to the lady who told me she was a trucker and she was all alone. She then asked do you know about truck drivers. Three months had passed since she had been stopped on an interstate in Georgia. According to our transportation laws she had done some things wrong but that was not enough for the officer who stopped her. He had decided to make a couple of additional charges against her of his own.... Read More

The Rules by those who Rule

We all grew up with them. Most of us who care about our children enforce them. We even named some of them GOLDEN. But never before in the history of the United States of America have we had a set of rules that were so strong that law enforcement officers enforced them.

Driver and Dispatchers

I found the comment below on the Linkedin.com site. I think it is very interesting. Can you put yourself into one of these categories?

As a Fleet owner for many years. I see communication as the biggest problem between the two. Dispatchers not paying attention to driver requests like home time especially and Drivers not understanding the freight availability and the markets they are going into about the time they want to be at home. Fleets could do a whole lot better with time management around the driver being home issue. ... Read More

Why are Drivers Changing Carriers?

It is 2012 and tens of thousands of drivers sit in driver orientations every week. Most all of these drivers have one thing in common. They are either not getting enough miles to make any money or they can never get back home to rest and see their families.

Trucking looks to be a very greedy business from the inside where drivers are just pawns in a game played by business planners. The majority of OTR drivers today are dingy, depressed, don't trust anybody and just plain tired of being tired and disadvantaged.... Read More

CSA, Drivers & Carriers Differences

Carriers are still attempting to lead CSA rather than follow CSA. That is the failure of the FMCSA. It is almost like the FMCSA is setting up carriers for the fall. The traps have been loaded and as soon as they see a carrier cross this imaginary line, which has proven not to be the threshold line, they hit the carrier hard.... Read More
